That, my friends, is the real deal. Jimmy and his Dad.
Proof of the good days. The classic strip of poses taken in a photo booth. There is something both timeless and time-stamping about them. They serve as book marks and memorabilia. Young love… Besties… Family…in print.
We love them.
(But sometimes they look like… this.)

(Are those Lifesavers® on there?)
Photobooths are innovative time capsules.
So, if you’re going to use a photo booth, don’t waste it by failing to form a plan for success. There are absolutely best practices that can guide you to creating that plan. Keep reading to learn tips on what to do, what not to do and considerations that must be made in order to hit your photo booth goals. (Thanks to Cvent for putting together these tips which we’re putting in our own words.)
- Effectively planning an event for your client means you must anticipate and oversee their expectations. Crowds can be unpredictable. Do not assume every person will jump at the chance to use your photo booth. First, allow them some breathing room to get their party pants on. Next, keep your eyes peeled for the gamers – the social ones who don’t mind being in front of a camera and talking to others about it.
- Think about throughput. Get a firm grip on estimated attendance so you can establish system needs. One booth, or ten? How many times have you refrained from visiting an event booth because the line was too long? Instead of laughing and looking and photos, attendees will be aggravated. Nobody wants that.
- Seeing is believing. Signage should be obvious. Participants shouldn’t be questioning what that booth is all about. There should be no question that a photo booth is available and it is FREE. (Who doesn’t love free photos?)

- Keep that booth in a happy place – within the event space. Don’t kill your photo booth by isolating it. Make it easy to find and even easier to make friends. A lonely booth leads to… well, no leads and no love.
- Nobody puts Baby in the corner. Draw attention to your booth. Create backgrounds that grab attention with a visual feast and good lighting. The area surrounding your picture place should be shouting to the multitudes, “Fun happens here!”
- Props are your friends. Fill your photo booth with them. Branded, event-themed, specialty props. Be goofy. Be clever. Be creative. Props help people relax and inspire engagement. This is the perfect opportunity to get your brand shared on social media.
- What’s on the agenda? Whatever it is, make sure to build in a cushion that permits plenty of time for attendees to take full advantage of the photo activation. This is yet another way to keep lines from reaching the point that the booth loses its appeal.
- The way to man’s heart is through the stomach… keep that in mind when choosing your booth space. People love to please the palette, so you can be assured of high traffic if you place your activation close to the chow.
- Near the door is not a strategic placement of your photo booth. People have two things in mind when they are by the door: coming or going. So, you’re either preventing them from getting in and checking everything out, or you’re keeping them from getting to another destination. Either way, sitting by an entrance or exit just positions the booth as an obstruction.
That’s it folks. Easy peasy. Follow these tips, and Kodak moments are a sure thing.
